Blantyre CCAP Synod last Sunday inducted Reverend Rabson Chinkwezule as new moderator of Limbe CCAP Congregation.

This means Chinkwezule will now carry two roles having been elected moderator of the synod early last month to succeed Reverend Mercy Chilapula.

At Limbe CCAP Church, he is succeeding Reverend Andrew Kamponda who was recently appointed by President Joyce Banda as chaplain for the Second Battalion of the Malawi Defence Forces (MDF).

Speaking at a colourful induction ceremony that took place at Limbe CCAP Church, Chilapula advised the new moderator to be the leading example and lighting torch for Christians.

She also encouraged Chinkwezule to be “a moderator of the people” by embracing every Christian, including the poor.

“You must demonstrate to your flock that you are a good shepherd. Don’t be a pastor who shows preferences for a certain section of Christians, leaving out others because they are poor,” said Chilapula.

Speaking to Nation on Sunday after the induction, Chinkwezule said he was ready to take the congregation forward.

“My first task will be to help Christians deepen their spiritual growth,” he said.
